Building a Sustainable Future:
X-Tech’s Commitment Through Innovation.

At X-Tech BV, we believe that technology should serve more than just efficiency and progress—it should contribute to a better life and a more sustainable environment. Over the past decades, our companies have been at the forefront of innovation, automation, and robotics, always guided by the principle that true progress means leaving the world in better shape than we found it.

In the last five years, our subsidiaries have put this vision into action through a series of ambitious sustainability projects. These initiatives reflect not only our responsibility toward the planet but also our drive to create smart, future-proof solutions that benefit both industry and society.

From implementing circular economy practices to reducing energy consumption in production lines, from introducing robotics that minimize waste to developing automation systems that make renewable energy smarter, our teams have consistently pushed the boundaries of what technology can do for sustainability.

These projects are more than milestones—they are proof of our commitment to shaping industries in ways that respect natural resources, lower environmental impact, and enhance the quality of life for communities worldwide.

As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to combining cutting-edge technology with sustainable practices, ensuring that every step forward in robotics and automation is also a step toward a cleaner, more resilient future.

1. La Couverture: sustainable For Airfreight Cold Chain Protection.

One of the most critical challenges in global pharmaceutical logistics is maintaining product integrity throughout the airfreight cold chain. With countless actors involved and varying procedures across airports, temperature excursions—especially on the tarmac, or “apron” as defined by ICAO—pose a serious risk to life-saving medicines. Extreme exposure to heat or cold at this stage can compromise pharmaceuticals, leading to devastating consequences for patients and significant losses for the industry.

To address this issue, MdG Srl, our Italian subsidiary, developed La Couverture—a pioneering, reusable, and repairable cover designed specifically for temperature-sensitive cargo. Unlike costly and CO₂-intensive active transport solutions such as refrigerated trucks or thermal dollies, La Couverture offers a sustainable, low-impact alternative. www.lacouverture.aero

Key features include:

  • Effective protection on the tarmac, reducing the risk of temperature excursions.
  • Lower environmental footprint, avoiding reliance on fuel-powered or battery-operated vehicles.
  • Eco-friendly design, with parts made from recycled materials.
  • Durability, with a shelf life of at least three years.
  • Reduced costs, compared to traditional active cooling solutions.

With La Couverture, MdG Srl demonstrates how smart, sustainable design can strengthen supply chain reliability while reducing environmental impact. It’s a prime example of X-Tech’s vision in action: creating innovative, automated, and sustainable solutions that make industries more resilient—without compromising the planet.

2. Paper Line: 100% Recyclable Cold Chain Packaging for Pharma and Biotech.

Sustainability in logistics is no longer an option—it’s a necessity. To further strengthen its eco-friendly portfolio, MdG Srl has introduced a groundbreaking solution from a German partner: the Paper Line, a 100% recyclable passive packaging system designed specifically for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Made almost entirely from recycled paper, Paper Line proves that high performance and sustainability can go hand in hand. The system provides excellent insulation performance comparable to traditional EPS packaging, ensuring safe transport of temperature-sensitive products without compromising quality.

Key benefits of Paper Line:

Eco-friendly composition: nearly 100% recycled paper.

Easy disposal: entire box can be recycled with household waste paper.

Outstanding insulation: reliable thermal performance for sensitive shipments.

Shock absorption: durable paper panels protect against physical impacts.

Resource conservation: old boxes are recycled into new ones, closing the loop.

Dry ice compatible: suitable for a wide range of cold chain applications.

By replacing conventional materials with paper-based innovation, Paper Line not only reduces environmental impact but also offers pharmaceutical companies a reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging choice.

This initiative underscores X-Tech’s commitment to developing and supporting solutions that contribute to a greener supply chain while meeting the strict demands of global healthcare logistics.
